Support for Windows 7 is ending

If your company has devices operating on windows 7, you need to get in touch with us as soon as possible.

Microsoft has announced it will end all support for Windows 7 on January 14th 2020. If your business has a significant number of computers running the Windows 7 operating system, it's really important that you start thinking about upgrading now.

Devices with this version of Windows will no longer receive any updates or security patches. Unfortunately, this means that we cannot guarantee support for these devices, and are unable to accept responsibility for their security.

What happens if you don’t upgrade?
After this date, your devices will still continue to run Windows 7. However, not upgrading could cause your business a number of issues that we may not be able to support you with. Hackers are always finding new ways to create threats, so if your computers do not have the latest security updates, they become increasingly vulnerable to risks such as viruses and cyber-attacks. Problems relating to reliability, efficiency and compatability may also result in higher operating costs.

Over time it is highly likely that your main business systems and third party software such as Sage will no longer work on these devices and are likely to create further issues down the line.

We would also strongly recommend that you seek legal advice on your GDPR status if you remain on Windows 7.
What should you do?

Please get in touch with us as soon as possible. The sooner you begin the migration to Windows 10 the better - given plenty of time, we can work with you to carefully plan the upgrade process for your business so that it can be done in a measured and controlled way, minimising disruption to your business.

Microsoft have stated that Windows 10 is the last iteration of their operating systems and will be updated for the forseeable future. It's therefore highly likely that this will be the last Windows upgrade needed for your devices.

Upgrading to Windows 10 will:

  • Protect your devices with the latest security updates
  • Give you the latest Windows features.
  • Keep your IT up-to-date

We will be contact our customers over the coming weeks to discuss this in greater detail; however, please feel free to contact us before.
