You can’t install the Windows or Mac desktop versions of Microsoft 365 or Office 2016 on a Chromebook. The Android versions of Office, Outlook, OneNote, and OneDrive are not currently supported on a Chromebook. You can access your Microsoft 365 apps from the web — including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, OneDrive, and Outlook.

Microsoft has built their suite out so that you can use Microsoft 365 if you have a Mac, plus the suite is also available on mobile for iOS users.

While Microsoft's Office 365 subscription-based plans require Internet access to sign up, you can still use Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other Office applications while you're offline. Microsoft installs the desktop versions of the latest Office apps on your computer when you first activate Office 365, just as if you had purchased the programs off the shelf. You will, however, need to go online every 30 days to maintain your subscription and prevent the apps from de-activating.

With Microsoft 365, you can install Office on all your devices and sign in to Office on five devices at the same time. This includes any combination of PCs, Macs, tablets, and phones.

Microsoft 365 Apps is no longer supported on Windows 7.

The cost of Microsoft 365 varies depending which plan you are on. The prices can vary for £4.50 + VAT a month upwards.

This depends on which apps you require to which plan you should use.

Business accounts need one of these Microsoft 365 license plans: Business Basic Business Standard Enterprise E1, E3, E5, or E4 (for anyone who purchased this plan prior to its retirement)
